About 3, maybe 4 years ago I discovered a little movie called Practical Magic. Practical Magic is one of those scripts that arrived just around Sandra Bullocks rise in popularity and maybe she thought she just needed a paycheck, same goes for Nicole Kidman. Now I know this movie isn’t very good, but much like my love for anything Halloween is blind, I enjoy this movie so much. Their chemistry, the fun story, the setting, again it’s right up my alley. There is something about it that I can’t put my finger on but it all just works, when it really shouldn’t and doesn’t for the most part. Maybe it’s Sandra Bullocks ability to charm the pants off of anyone or Nicole Kidmans last showing of sex appeal, but I can’t help but anticipate watching it every year. Now, the soundtrack to this movie is just outstanding. Stevie Nicks with Crystal, Joni Mitchells A Case Of You, Nick Drake’s Black Eyed Dog and of course, Harry Nilson’s Coconut – for me, this the perfect fall soundtrack. Some of these artists are an acquired taste, I guess, it’s very funk songwriter pop, but I have no shame in enjoying this.
